Sports and Games are Harwaam (forbidden)

All sports and games whether on video, computer, mobile or in the field fall in the category of Lahw and Laab (useless and leisure time) hence, not permissible.

Allah Pak dictates in the Qur’an Shareef, “I have not created Man and Jinn except for (the purpose) of Ibadat.”(SuraAz-zirat, 56 Ayaat).

Allah Pak  dictates, “Not for sports I did not create the Jannah and the earth and all that is in between!”(Sura Al-Anbiya,16 Ayaat)

Having said that, the Qur’an Shareef on no less than five places warns about this worldly life – that this life is not for sports and time-passing . The two words used are ‘lahw’ and ‘laab’ which defined as games, sports and leasure time. Basically ‘lahw’ and ‘laab’ do not bring any benefit and together take one away from the remembrance of Allah Pak and Habeebullah, Huzur Pak Swallallahu ‘AlaihiWaSallam.

Habeebullah, Huzur Pak Swallallahu ‘Alaihi Wa Sallam dictates,“All types of games and sports are harwaam”

Habeebullah, Huzur Pak Swallallahu ‘AlaihiWaSallamdictates,“Every game is Harwaam except three: a man plays with his wife, riding (training) horse and archery.” (Mustadareke Hakim)

In a lengthy Hadis Shareef narrated by Hazrat Uqba ibne Aamir Rwadhiallaahu T’alaa Anhu, Habeebullah, Huzur Pak Swallallahu ‘Alaihi Wa Sallam dictates, “Every Lahw (games, sports etc.) is harwaam except practice of archery with his bow, teaching (riding, training, etc.) his horse and playing with his wife.” (Tirmidhi shareef, Ibn Majah shareef, Abu Dawud shareef, Daarimi shareef; Mishkaat shareef vol.1 pg.332)

In another Hadis Shareef, Hazrat  Umar Ibnul Khattab Alihis salam report that Habeebullah, Huzur Pak Swallallahu ‘Alaihi Wa Sallam dictates, “Teach your children swimming and archery.”

In Islam, playing with own wife, horse riding, archery, swimming are not game at all, because all this activities have very important objectives such as increasing family bond, preparation for Jihad etc. Rest of all sports and game are harwam (forbidden)

so, every Muslim should avoid those harwaam (Forbidden) games and sports.
